Next week our students will be taking the most important tests of our school year. On April 24, 25, and 26 our 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students will be taking the California Standards Test better known as the CSTs. I personally have visited all of the students’ classrooms to emphasize to our students how important it is to do their best on CSTs both for them individually and for our school. It is important for each student to do well personally because his or her CST scores will determine what classes they will be in next year, and these skills prepare them for college. Your students’ CST scores also help our school to reach our academic goals and to continue our quest to be the best high school in the Sweetwater Union High School District.
On April 24, all students will be taking the CST English Language Arts Test. On April 25, all students will be taking the appropriate CST math test. On April 26, students will be taking the CST Science and U.S. History test. Each of these testing days will be early release days with students being released at 1:00 on April 24 or April 25 and at 1:40 on April 26. Students who are in World History will be taking the CST World History Test on April 30- May 2 in their regular history classroom.
I strongly encourage you to emphasize to your students to make sure they are here for every day of testing and to do their very best. Please also make sure your students get a good night’s rest before each day of testing and that they have a nutritious breakfast. We are intensely focused on improving our CST scores because we feel this is an important step in our continued quest to improve our students’ academic achievement.
