Academic Support

One of the characteristics of a successful student is to ask for assistance and support when needed. At Montgomery High School, we offer multiple academic support services in addition to those available in our community.

Academic Support

MOH Academic Support Services

  • MAGIC Center
    • Monday-Thursday, 3:00-5:00, in the MOH Library.
    • Receive tutoring from MOH Math Teachers, College Tutors, and Peer Tutors.
  • Aztec Check-Out
    • At-risk 9th grade students are paired up with an 11th or 12th grade mentor for tutoring and support with the transition to high school. Students meet 2-4 times per week in the Operation Grit program.

Tips for Success!

  • As a student…
    • Use a paper calendar/planner or electronic calendar (phone, iPad, etc.) to take note of all homework assignments each class.
    • Complete and submit all homework on time!! J
    • Advocate for yourself by asking your teacher for help if you do not understand.
    • Check your grades weekly (if not more!) to make sure all assignments have been turned in and given credit.
    • Come to school on time!!!
    • Attend tutoring at the MAGIC Center, STAY program, or local library as needed.
    • Get at least 8-9 hours of sleep each night.
    • Seek guidance from your counselor regarding any academic or social/emotional concerns.
    • Set goals for yourself and believe in your ability to accomplish them.
  • As a parent…
    • Check your student’s grade weekly on Jupiter Grades.
    • Have a set time and place that your student works on homework each day.
    • Make sure your student is arriving on time to school each day.
    • Make sure your student is getting adequate sleep (at least 8-9 hours/night).
    • Communicate with your student’s counselor and/or teachers as needed, but first encourage your student to advocate for him/herself.
    • Have all technology (cell phone, iPad, etc.) made unavailable at night.
    • Be aware of any significant changes in mood and communicate any concerns to your student’s counselor.
